The manhole cover is an important component of urban public infrastructure, closely related to the orderly operation of the city and the safe life of the people. The special rectification work for the manhole cover is one of the ten key livelihood issues determined by the Henan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government in 2021, and was again listed as the top ten livelihood issues in the province in 2022. Since this year, Xinxiang Mobile has actively cooperated with Xinxiang City to carry out the special renovation of manhole covers, and has cooperated with the urban management bureaus, emergency management, and comprehensive supervision and law enforcement bureaus of multiple counties (cities, districts, and high-tech zones, such as Huojia County, Fengquan District, and Gaoxin District. Using China Mobile's 5G network, big data, NB narrowband Internet of Things, cloud platform, and other technologies, it has promoted the intelligent upgrading and transformation of manhole covers, and strengthened the security guarantee of urban operations.

In the renovation of manhole covers, electronic archives for alarm and risk elimination are established based on information such as the location and purpose of the area to which the manhole covers belong. Through the intelligent manhole cover detection platform, a maintenance and management ledger for manhole covers with complete and updated information is formed, gradually realizing "one cover, one number, one well, one file". The platform presents the location of each 5G intelligent well cover in the form of a map, marked with a green marker. When the well cover alarms, the well cover marker at the corresponding location on the map will turn red, facilitating urban drainage while achieving remote monitoring, real-time sensing, and automatic alarm.

"The location information of the alarm can be accurate to centimeters, and the ownership information, ultra high-definition images, and technical information of the manhole cover can be clearly seen at a glance." According to Liu Wenqing, the relevant person in charge of the Fengquan Branch of Xinxiang Mobile, "After the platform warning, it will automatically locate and form a case work order, and send it to the maintenance personnel synchronously according to their responsibility and authority, ensuring that the maintenance personnel rush to the scene for disposal in the first time, and protecting the safety of the people's feet."

"The application of 5G intelligent manhole covers has created a situation where the Fengquan District Urban Management Bureau has changed from passive response to active management, from personnel patrol to intelligent monitoring." said the senior section chief of the Fengquan District Urban Management Bureau, "Patrol personnel can monitor various data in real time through mobile phones and computers, and can achieve rapid response and disposal, minimizing the occurrence of safety hazards, greatly improving urban management efficiency, and effectively solving the shortcomings of traditional manhole covers."

Currently, the first batch of more than 200 5G smart manhole covers in Fengquan District has been completely installed. In the next stage, the Urban Management Bureau of Fengquan District will also cooperate with Xinxiang Mobile to extend the intelligent transformation of manhole covers from the main and secondary trunk roads of the city to the alleys, realizing the full coverage of intelligent management of 1100 manhole covers throughout the region, making small manhole covers the guardian of the underground "artery" in the smart city.
